Some clients choose to work independently, largely representing themselves, with only occasional help and advice from a lawyer. For those clients, I am happy to provide services on an unbundled, as-needed, basis. I will still send you an engagement letter, describing the scope of the engagement as one for unbundled services, and you will receive a detailed statement of the services I perform at your direction, itemizing the tasks and time I have spent to perform them on a monthly billing cycle.
I will not enter my appearance as your attorney of record with the court, unless you ask me to. If we mutually agree to that expanded scope, I will commemorate it in a revised scope of engagement letter and I will send you a revised fee agreement. Subject to the Court’s willingness to grant my motion to withdraw as your counsel of record, you can terminate my full representation and resume my representation of you on an unbundled basis if that makes sense in your case.
